On Vinyl Media To Partner With 50+ Local Artists To Launch Online Merch Shop Benefiting HAAM and SIMS FoundationAUSTIN, TX - After years of supporting local musicians through the vehicles of press and commercial retail streaming, On Vinyl Media will be announcing today that the company is continuing their efforts to build a stronger local music community by partnering with over 50 local bands in Austin, TX to create an online local music merch shop launching this December. The merchandise shop will benefit the SIMS Foundation and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), music non-profits that help local musicians and local music industry professionals receive healthcare and mental health services. The sale will run from December 1st to 31st and 50% of profits from the sale will go equally towards the two charities. The shop will be online at onvinylmedia.com/store.
With a goal of 50 artists by launch, On Vinyl currently has around 40 artists on board with recognizable names like Sweet Spirit, White Denim, Jackie Venson, Eric Tessmer, Tameca Jones, CAPYAC, Molly Burch, Walker Lukens, PR Newman, SMiiLE and others. The organization is currently seeking more artists to participate in the sale. Many HAAM and SIMS members are happily signing on to help raise money for the organization in order to give back to the community that has supported them. The sister organizations provide low-income musicians and music industry professionals with programs such as dental care, healthcare premium assistance, mental health and addiction services, and helps members of the music community get enrolled in healthcare each year. “HAAM is very grateful to the folks at On Vinyl for their support of Austin musicians and their support of HAAM,” says Reenie Collins, Executive Director of HAAM. "During this giving season, it is always great to see ways that you can shop and support local artists while at the same time give back to non-profits." The announcement of the sale comes right before Thanksgiving weekend this year. “It’s the season of giving, and while there are some amazing non-profits doing good work for Austin’s local music scene that I hope to give back to some day, I could not think of a more important issue to tackle first than healthcare for our musicians,” says Nathalie Phan, Founder of On Vinyl. “HAAM and SIMS Foundation save lives and they are the beating heart of Austin’s music scene.” Within one week of asking bands to participate, On Vinyl received enormous and overwhelming support from musicians and the local music community. “It’s heartwarming to see so many artists step up to help one another out,” Phan says. “It makes me extremely honored to spearhead this charity initiative. I could only hope that the public will receive this announcement with as much enthusiasm as the artists that are giving back.” While the sale is only set to be through the month of December, On Vinyl will be waiting to gauge public demand of local artist merch before making the decision to extend the sale beyond a month. “Buying local musician's merch from On Vinyl for holiday gifts is how we do it in Austin! Support SIMS and musician mental wellness with your merch purchase!” says Heather Alden, Executive Director of SIMS. For more information, please contact Nathalie Phan ([email protected]). |
