By Ashley Morris We’re sweet on Nick Adamo’s smooth, dreamy bittersweet debut single “Sugar Daddy” and we think you will be too. An avid skateboarder in his youth, classic skateboarding VHS tapes and culture are a continuing inspiration to his art. The NY-born, Texas-raised artist came to Austin in 2015 to add his flavor to the music scene and will be dropping more tracks along with “Sugar Daddy” in 2019. “Sugar Daddy” is imbued with an effortless, carefree sound that draws attention to the modern and natural lyrics of the track. Capturing self-doubt and the pitfalls of modern love, Adamo’s lyrics avoid sentimentality while remaining poignant and vulnerable. His indie-pop sound is reminiscent of bands such as Rex Orange County along with Todd Gungreen. It is simply a refreshing take on modern love and the misadventures that come along with it. The music world and everyday people are starved for the down to earth, honest, and no-frills lyricism and sound that Adamo so expertly crafts. While there are countless songs about love, modern love, and everything in between, few can capture so many feelings such as doubt, fear and desire without drama or repeating the same cliche over and over. Nick Adamo stands apart from the crowd with his easy listening single that is hard to stop replaying.
A breath of fresh air, we can’t wait to see what else Nick Adamo has to offer, and we’re crushing hard. Listen on Spotify.
